Orihuela Costa – Complete Guide for Swedish Buyers 2026
Everything you need to know about Orihuela Costa on Costa Blanca: areas, property prices, climate, beach life and tips for buying property in southern Spain.

All golf courses near Torrevieja: green fees, holes, facilities and tips. Villamartín, Las Ramblas, Campoamor, Las Colinas and more.
Within a 30-minute drive from Torrevieja you will find eight 18-hole courses with green fees from around 50 to 140 euros per round. Thanks to the Costa Blanca's climate with over 300 sunny days per year you can play golf twelve months a year — winter days offer 15 to 20 degrees and sunshine, making the area one of Europe's best golf destinations for those who want to avoid the Swedish winter. The courses range from classic venues like Villamartín Golf (opened 1972) to modern championship courses like Las Colinas Golf & Country Club (2010), and several of them have residential urbanisations with properties around the fairways and greens.
In this guide I go through all eight courses in detail — holes, par, green fees, facilities, who the course suits and which residential areas are adjacent. You will also get a price comparison, information about memberships and answers to the most common questions about golf in the Torrevieja area.
Villamartín Golf is the oldest and perhaps most iconic golf course in the Torrevieja area, designed by American P. Puttman and inaugurated as far back as 1972. The course is located in the heart of Orihuela Costa, around 10 minutes by car from Torrevieja centre, and has over the years hosted greats such as Severiano Ballesteros, José María Olazábal and Ian Woosnam.
Course facts:
The signature hole is hole 17 — a par 3 of around 200 metres from the back tee, where you play over a deep ravine lined with pines to a large, two-section green. It is a hole that tests nerves regardless of handicap.
Green fees and equipment: Villamartín has favourable prices relative to its status. Green fee for 18 holes is around 50 to 65 euros depending on season. Golf buggy from 20 euros, trolley from 5 euros. Driving range available with lessons from 20 euros per half hour with golf pro Emilio Rodríguez.
Facilities: Driving range, pro shop, clubhouse restaurant with views over the course. Members get 10 percent discount on food and drink.
Who is it for? Villamartín works for all levels. The course is not extremely long but requires precision, especially around the well-designed greens. Perfect as an "everyday course" if you live in the area.
Properties: Villamartín is one of Orihuela Costa's most established residential areas with townhouses, villas and apartments around the course. Villamartín Plaza, the square next to the golf course, is a popular social hub with pubs and restaurants.
Las Ramblas Golf opened in 1991 and was designed by José Gancedo, one of Spain's most renowned course architects. The course is right next to Villamartín but offers a completely different playing experience — dramatic terrain with significant elevation changes and dense Mediterranean vegetation of pines and shrubs.
Course facts:
The signature hole is hole 6, which makes maximum use of the natural terrain with a challenging routing along one of the ravines (ramblas) that gave the course its name. From several holes you have magnificent views over the Mediterranean.
Green fees: From around 50 euros for 18 holes on weekdays, with dynamic pricing depending on season and time of day. A golf buggy is strongly recommended due to the elevation changes — from 25 euros. Electric trolley from 15 euros.
Facilities: Driving range, golf school, pro shop, restaurant. The course has GEO certification for environmental work, demonstrating high awareness of sustainable course maintenance.
Who is it for? Las Ramblas rewards strategic play rather than pure distance. Good for mid-handicap golfers who appreciate variety and a natural feel. The hilly terrain can be physically demanding if you walk without a buggy.
Properties: The Las Ramblas urbanisation has modern villas and townhouses in a quiet setting, often with views over the fairways. Perfect if you are looking for golf within walking distance.
Tips
Villamartín and Las Ramblas are just a stone's throw from each other. If you live in the area you can easily alternate between both courses and get two completely different playing experiences.
Campoamor was inaugurated in 1988 by Prince Juan de Borbón and is located in the exclusive Dehesa de Campoamor, at the southernmost point of Orihuela Costa. The course winds through interconnected valleys surrounded by hills, creating its own microclimate and a feeling of seclusion.
Course facts:
Green fees (2025/2026):
Golf buggy costs 40 to 45 euros. Campoamor also offers a 20-round package for €1,000, giving a unit price of €50 per round — an excellent deal for those who play regularly.
Membership: Annual membership costs €3,600. There are also flexible options: three months for €1,890, two months for €1,350 or one month for €750. Good if you overwinter in Spain.
Facilities: Impressive 2,800-square-metre clubhouse with cherry wood panelling, granite floors and panoramic views from 130 metres altitude. Restaurant, pro shop, driving range.
Who is it for? A serious course in fine condition that suits experienced golfers. The considerable length and varied terrain demand a complete game.
Properties: Dehesa de Campoamor is one of Orihuela Costa's most exclusive residential areas with villas in the higher price range. Quiet, beautiful and close to the beach.
Las Colinas opened in 2010 and is the area's most modern and prestigious course, designed by American landscape architect Cabell B. Robinson — the same architect who designed Finca Cortesín (host of the 2023 Solheim Cup). The course is set in a 330-hectare valley with views towards the Mediterranean in the Campoamor area.
Course facts:
Las Colinas has previously hosted the European Tour Q-School, the tour's qualifying event, which says a great deal about the standard of the course. The terrain is undulating with strategic bunkers and water features.
Green fees: €65 to €133 depending on season and time of day. It is the most expensive course in the area, but you get a top-class championship experience.
Facilities: Toptracer-equipped driving range (tracks your shots digitally), short game area designed by Miguel Ángel Jiménez, practice course, three restaurants, gym and health club, walking trails and even a private beach club. This is not just a golf course — it is a lifestyle.
Membership: Exclusive memberships with 15-day advance booking, free range balls, access to private practice area, 15 percent discount in the pro shop and 10 percent at restaurants.
Who is it for? Those who want the very best. Las Colinas is aimed at experienced golfers who appreciate the championship course and the full resort experience. The course's five different tee positions make it playable even for beginners however.
Properties: Las Colinas has exclusive villas and apartments integrated into the resort, surrounded by 200,000 square metres of natural green spaces. Prices are at the top end for the area.

La Marquesa Golf was founded in 1989 under the name "Quesada Golf Club" and is the heart of Ciudad Quesada, a large urbanisation with over 15,000 homes north of Torrevieja. The course changed its name to La Marquesa Golf & Country Club in 1994 and has since become one of the most popular courses among residents in the area.
Course facts:
The course's most famous feature is a replica of the legendary hole 17 at TPC Sawgrass in Florida — the island green surrounded by water. You do not have to fly to the USA to experience the nerve-tingling feeling of playing to a small green island.
Green fees (2025/2026):
Golf buggy costs €37 (18 holes), electric trolley €17, club hire €38.
Facilities: Golf academy with lessons for all levels and ages, driving range, putting green, pro shop and restaurant.
Who is it for? Excellent beginner and family course. Wide fairways encourage use of the driver, and the Sawgrass replica provides a memorable challenge without the rest of the course being too difficult. Popular among mid-handicap golfers.
Properties: Ciudad Quesada is one of the Costa Blanca's largest residential communities with affordable villas and townhouses — often 20 to 30 percent cheaper than coastal properties.
Vistabella Golf opened in 2009 and was designed by Manuel Piñero, a former Ryder Cup player. The course is located near Jacarilla, surrounded by citrus groves, and offers a modern playing experience with wide fairways, strategic bunkers and attractive water hazards.
Course facts:
Green fees (2025/2026):
Golf buggy €37, electric trolley €17, club hire €35.
Facilities: Golf academy, driving range, restaurant with terrace and panoramic views surrounded by pines and Mediterranean vegetation. The restaurant is worth a visit even if you are not playing golf.
Who is it for? A strategic course that rewards thoughtful play. Suits mid-handicap to experienced golfers. Summer prices make it particularly attractive from June to August.
La Finca opened in 2002 in Algorfa and is considered by many to be the most well-designed course on the Costa Blanca. Architect Pepe Gancedo (brother of José Gancedo who designed Las Ramblas) created a course with generous fairways and unique green complexes that have become legendary among golfers in the region.
Course facts:
Hole 7 has a square green resembling a bowling alley, hole 14 has a round, deep green like a wok, and hole 5 requires a shot to an island green surrounded by water. Imaginative and memorable.
Green fees: From €100 for 18 holes depending on season and booking status. Golf buggy from €25, club hire from €25, lessons from €22 per half hour.
Facilities: Five-star hotel and spa (since 2009), one of Europe's largest clubhouses with views over the course, several restaurants. La Finca has hosted the Junior European Championship and European Development Tour.
Who is it for? Those who want to combine golf with a hotel and spa experience. The generous fairways make the course forgiving off the tee, but the unique greens demand finesse with the iron play. Good for all levels.
Information
La Finca and Vistabella are both inland, around 20 to 25 minutes by car from Torrevieja. The reward is lower property prices in the surrounding area and a calmer feel compared with the coastal courses.
Lo Romero Golf was inaugurated in 2007 in Pilar de la Horadada, around 15 minutes south of Torrevieja. The course was early on called "The Island of Golf" in Spanish Levante and was designed by Jorge Guillén on land that was previously pear and apple orchards.
Course facts:
Water comes into play on 13 of 18 holes and there are 56 bunkers. The longest hole is hole 10 (506 metres from yellow tees), the shortest hole 5 (168 metres). From hole 18 you have views over the Mediterranean horizon — a perfect finish.
Green fees: From around €75 per round. Annual packages from €820. Golf pro Nigel Hardy offers lessons.
Facilities: Clubhouse with restaurant and bar, driving range, pro shop. Pleasant walk through the landscape thanks to short distances between greens and the next tee.
Who is it for? The water features make the course challenging for all levels. A good choice if you enjoy strategic play where ball placement matters more than distance.
Properties: Pilar de la Horadada offers new builds and properties at reasonable prices, close to the beaches at Mil Palmeras and Torre de la Horadada.

A single 18-hole round costs between 50 and 140 euros depending on course and season. Here is an overview of what you can expect:
On top of the green fee come the golf buggy (€20–45), electric trolley (€15–17) and any club hire (€25–38). A day on the golf course therefore typically costs €70–180 including everything. Compared with Swedish green fees — where a round on a good 18-hole course can easily cost €55–85 — the prices are competitive, and you also play in sunshine in the middle of winter.
Tips
Play after 15:00 for twilight prices at several courses. La Marquesa for example offers a twilight round for €67 instead of €83 — a saving of almost 20 percent.
Yes, and for those who play regularly, memberships or multi-round passes can save considerably:
Villamartín: Annual membership with generous family terms. One family member plays without an extra green fee, others get 50 percent discount. There is also a "transient membership" — pay only 10 percent of the annual fee during periods when you are not in Spain.
Campoamor: Full annual membership for €3,600, or flexible options from €750 per month. 20-round package for €1,000 (€50/round).
Vistabella: Multi-round passes — 10 rounds for €890, 20 rounds for €1,600. Summer packages at even better prices.
Las Colinas: Exclusive membership with 15-day advance booking, free range balls, private practice area and discounts in the pro shop and restaurants.
For those who overwinter in Spain for 3 to 6 months per year, Campoamor's flexible membership or Vistabella's multi-round passes are often the most value-for-money option.
Absolutely — and this is one of the great attractions of the Torrevieja area. Several courses have urbanisations built around the fairways and greens, where you can literally walk to the first tee from your front door.
Most popular golf residential areas:
Living next to a golf course has benefits beyond proximity to the game. The properties often have views over green spaces (no new buildings in front of your window), access to the course's restaurant and social activities, and they tend to hold their value well over time.
Orihuela Costa gathers four of the courses (Villamartín, Las Ramblas, Campoamor and Las Colinas) within a small area, making this stretch of coast the natural choice if you want several courses within walking distance.
